welcome email sent on 10/29/2007

Greetings,

Welcome to the 2007 FIRST LEGO League Regional Tournament scheduled for Sunday, December 9 in Hillsborough, California!  For teams who attended the Nueva tournament last year, welcome back!   For new teams, especially teams participating in FLL for the first time, we send an especially warm WELCOME :-).  We promise to provide an event embodying the true spirit of FIRST LEGO League!

It is still incomplete, but the web site for this tournament is at: http://www.roboticslearning.com/FLL/2007HB
Updates will follow.

The 12 teams participating in this tournament are listed at the end of this email.  This is a qualifying event for the championship tournament to be held in January. The location of the tournament is The Nueva School, 6565 Skyline Boulevard, Hillsborough, CA 94010.   Hours are 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM (team volunteers may need to arrive earlier).  We expect the schedule and most details of the event to be the same as last year (see the web page for details).

There will be a $50 per team tournament fee, and your space will be confirmed when payment is received.  Payment is being handled through Playing At Learning (www.NCAFLL.org).  Follow the payment link from the tournament web page.  Additional donations are welcome (and needed to cover projected a budget shortfall).

Food will be available for sale at the tournament (food sales will help support the tournament and a local charity).  We need enthusiastic volunteers (other than the coaches) to make this event a success.  Each attending team is required to provide at least one volunteer to help run the tournament (often split among two or more parents, so no one has to volunteer for the whole day).  Details about volunteer opportunities will be provided soon, and updated on the web site.

We also need several Power Puzzle playing field tables with mats and field pieces for the team pit areas.  Transporting and/or providing a playing field can be am important part of your team volunteer contribution.

We are in need of Judges and Referees for the event.  While coaches and parents of teams participating in the tournament are not recommended for these positions, if you know of anyone who may be interested in this great opportunity, please have them contact us.

We are excited to have the opportunity to make this a great event for all the participating teams.  Don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or suggestions.
