EV3 AND NXT BATTLE ROBOTS DESCRIPTION

This three-day session uses the EV3 and NXT LEGO Mindstorms robotics kits.  Student teams will design and program robots to compete in a number of contests such as Robot Sumo, Robot Treasure Hunt, Robot Wrestling, and Robot Cannon challenges.  The challenges will include both autonomous (programmed) and remote-control competitions.

  • Minimum age is 8 (recommended for ages 8 – 14).  No previous experience is required. 
NXT Robots
EV3 AND NXT ROBOT CHALLENGES DESCRIPTION

This 5-day session uses the EV3 and NXT LEGO Mindstorms robotics kits and includes structured lessons and challenges that introduce basic and intermediate level construction, use of sensors, and programming topics. Student teams will also have an opportunity to design and program a robot to solve FIRST LEGO League robot competition challenges from a FLL season (see www.FirstLegoLeague.org). 

  • Minimum age is 8 (recommended for ages 8 – 14).  No previous experience is required.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL SESSIONS
  • Students will have a partner for most activities, and are required to cooperate and share well.
  • Building and Programming skills will be practiced in the context of the robot challenges, where the students will receive guidance and coaching.
  • A light snack will be provided each morning and afternoon.
  • Students need to bring their own sack lunch, and be motivated and mature enough to stay focused on robotics activities all day.
